A Christmas Prayer

Image result for depression at christmas

A Christmas prayer

For the ones out there

Who aren’t full of happiness and  cheer

Who are depressed and worn out this time of year

This time of year can be tough

Sometimes you just want to scream ENOUGH!

Maybe it’s the loss of a loved one

Or past hurts that have been done

Everyone else seems full of glee

You’re thinking “everyone but me”

You aren’t the only one faking a smile

Remember the season is because of the birth of a child

It’s not the decorations or presents

Or all the parties and events

Here is an open invitation

To join in the celebration

Image result for bible verses on hope and strength

No gifts to bring or trees to decorate

Whenever you are ready, we will wait

A genuine heart with love to give

I believe you are meant to live

Do not give up, Do not be dismayed

If you are having a string of bad days

There is a hope for a better tomorrow

One not promised without sorrow

One not promised without pain

One not promised without rain

One promised that you are never alone

One promised that you have a home

One promised that you are loved

One promised of HOPE,  sealed by His blood

I can’t promise tomorrow will be better

I can promise you have a helper

Instead of falling down it’s time to rise up

Don’t give up when you’ve had enough

The night will fall and the sun will soon shine

Please, please give it some more time

Tomorrow is new

Perhaps a blessing for you

Tomorrow will soon be here

And maybe, just maybe, it’ll be your year

A baby boy was born in a manger

Don’t let him be a stranger

Get to know hope, love, forgiveness and grace

Tomorrow you will gladly embrace

I want you to know you are known

And that you aren’t alone

Don’t give up, YOU are loved, even when you are blue

This is my Christmas prayer for you

Talk to your doctor if you are feeling sad for long periods of time. They can refer you to a mental health specialist. If your feelings of sadness during the holidays are accompanied by suicidal thoughts, do one of the following immediately:

  • Call 911.
  • Go immediately to a hospital emergency room.
  • Contact the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-TALK (1-800-273-8255).

You can improve your mood by practicing self-care during the holidays. Eat a healthy diet, and maintain a regular sleep pattern and exercise program. According to the kept Primary Care Companion to the Journal of Clinical Psychiatry, as little as 30-minutes of cardiovascular exercise can provide an immediate mood boost similar to the effects of an antidepressant medication. Joining a support group where you talk to people with similar experiences to yours can also help.

YOU ARE NOT ALONE AND YOU HAVE WORTH AND YOU ARE LOVED MORE THAN YOU KNOW!

What Will You Look Like?

Image result for philippians 3 21

I often wonder what you will look like

When I see you at the end of this life

Will you look like you did in the days before your last song was sung ?

Will you look like I remember you from when I was young?

Will there be lines on your face?

Will all the blemishes I loved be erased?

Will your legs be old and weak?

Will you be able to dance with me as we speak?

Will you be rocking with the musicians that are there?

Will you still be confined to your wheelchair?

Some of these things I don’t wonder as much

Like the wheelchair and the weak legs and such

I know in Heaven all things are made new

But sometimes I wonder if I will recognize you

Will you look like how my mind remembers?

When through those gates of pearls my soul enters

Will you jump for joy when you see my face?

How many hours could we sit and talk about God’s grace?

When I first see Jesus I wonder what I will do?

I wonder how many times He has sat down to talk with you?

Will the grass always be green and the flowers always in bloom?

I wonder if it will be years before I see you or if it will be soon?

Sometimes I wonder if all I do has even mattered

I know one day all my questions will all be answered

Today I will live with joy knowing I will see your face again

But I still miss you my love, my parent, my child, my friend

Your Choice

When I first started this I was thinking it would be about old friends or old relationship,  like Adele’s Someone Like You song.   Then I heard RaeLynn’s Love Triangle and it went a different direction. Hope you like. Dads, be there for you kids, no matter what. They need you in their life.  The statistics of how children turn out without a father in their lives are not good. Be there. Be thankful for them. Love them.  Be thankful for forgiveness. One of the most important things you can do as a dad is to love their mom. Show them what a real man and a real father and a real stick it out, work it out relationship should look like.

When I left it wasn’t your choice

It must be strange to hear my voice

After all these years

After you cried a million tears

“I’m sorry I was wrong.”

“I should never have left you for so long.”

“I’m sorry I decided to leave.”

“I know that must be hard for you to believe.”

“I felt like there was no other way.”

“When I packed my bags and left that day.”

“Your mom has raised you well.”

“You’re beautiful inside and out I can tell.”

I could also tell I had scarred her

Her first question, “Why didn’t you try harder?”

“Wasn’t I worth trying?”

“Do you know how many nights I spent crying?”

“I promise daddy, I could’ve been better!”

“Don’t you think I was worth one call, one letter?”

“I know you and mom had your troubles

But why did you keep me outside your bubble?”

“Do you know many nights  I yelled into my pillow at you?”

“Do you know how many days I wondered what did I do?”

I just stared at her, how could I cut her out of my life?

There was nothing I could say, she was right

She had so many questions that hurt me so

But nothing like the pain I caused her I know

I cried my first tear

I let go of all my fears

All the times I could’ve

All the times I should’ve

I let them all go, left the past in the past

Here she was in front of me at last

I asked, “Will you ever forgive me?”

“I did dad, a long time ago can’t you see?”

“I prayed for you!”

“I waited for you!”

“I did have so much anger and hate

But God taught me that love was the only way.”

“As hard as it was I slowly learned to forgive

So that I could learn to live.”

“I opened up the walls surrounding my heart.”

“Here I am dad, willing to give us another start!”

I lost it all, I crumbled in her arms

I promised her I would never again harm

If God could help us reunite

Then I knew I had to give Him my life

Thank you for mended relationships

Thank you God for fixing this

Never again will something come in between

I will spend the rest of my life letting her know how much she means

I Loved Our Time Together (When You Were On A Sedative)

Trying to be funny but…my sense of humor can be warped at times.

I loved our time together when you were on a sedative

In the moment was all we had to live

No hurts, no regrets, the past was the past

It had been ages since we laughed like that

Even though the doctor was two and a half hours late

I can honestly say I didn’t mind the wait

No kids, no outside pulls, no tv

Just you and me ( and that constant beep)

We made jokes the entire time

Reminded me of when you were first mine

Before life got in the way

But we can start anew today

It was good to hear you laugh

If you did now it would tear you in half

You will heal and so will we

Marriage definitely is not easy

I can’t wait until my knee is done

So we can have some more fun

And love our time together when I am on a sedative

When the leaves are falling

And the steps of death are calling

Remember me like the beauty in the changing colors of leaves

Remember where I’ll be because of what I believe

When the cold winter winds blow

Think of the spring when things start to grow

When you see the branches bare

Remember that a part of me is always there

In the heat of summer when the days seem to last forever

When you see the beauty in a sunset remember my love leaves you never

When the snow is on the ground

And life can’t be found

Remember me in the new colors of spring

In the red, gold, yellow leaves fall brings

This season of mourning will pass

Just like the years have gone fast

The nights I slept little to feed you in the middle of the night

The nights you couldn’t sleep because of fright

The nights I stayed up late

Waiting until you came home from a date

The days you said you hated me

The days we agreed to disagree

The times I should’ve listened instead of yelled

The times I let you go when I should of held

All of them made us who we are

All moments shared under the same stars

My love for you has no bounds

But it doesn’t compare to God’s love found

When you need someone to hold your hand

Think of me and that’s where I am

When you need someone to wipe a tear

Know that I am always near

When you see the beauty of this world

You will always be my little girl

This is goodbye but it’s not the end

When the leaves fall remember when

When the cold wind blows

That’s just me pulling you close

When you feel the suns rays warming your bones

That’ll be me calling you from home

Birds Of A Different Color: The Sequel

Image result for dove

Please take a minute to read part 1 : Birds Of A Different Color

The birds of the land lived in peace for quite a long time

They shared everything, what’s mine is yours and yours is mine

They sung songs together and visited each other’s nest

Peace, nothing to worry about when their feathers would lay down to rest

Then one day the unthinkable happened

The skies of blue suddenly blackened

During a training flight a blue jay crashed into a warbler

I can’t put into words, it was indeed horrible

Image result for blue jayImage result for black and white warbler and blue jay together

The warbler fell to the ground, it had been killed

Mourning came to the land, his little heart had been stilled

It didn’t take long for the warblers to blame the blue jays

Even though the birds that witnessed it said the warbler flew the wrong way

They demanded justice, the words were harsh that they spoke

They didn’t consider that the blue jays heart was broke

He was terribly sad for what happened but said he wasn’t to blame

The warblers attacked his nest, the land would never be the same

Attack after attack, nest after nest

None of the birds could find rest

A dark cloud had overtaken the trees

No bird was safe, no bird was free

The eagle couldn’t believe what his eyes did see

He thought, Have they forgotten our history?

Nothing good will come from this

He bowed his head and prayed his wish

O mighty father above, help me find a way

To help these birds remember our yesterday

When we nearly destroyed our homes, our land

We fought over the colors of our feathers right where they now stand

How eventually we put aside our differences and came together

We joined as one as we each held those different colored feathers

He opened his eyes and looked around

Hate wasn’t the answer, love had to be found

Image result for eagle talking to birds

He once again called a meeting

He searched hard for the words he would be speaking

He looked left, he looked right

He said “My fellow birds, why do we fight?”

“I’m not saying what happened was right or wrong

But don’t you remember when we all sang the same song?”

“Warblers, I know your hearts are bleeding

But violence isn’t the answer to what you are needing.”

“Blue Jays, I know your heart is breaking

But fighting back leaves only hate for the taking.”

Image result for 1 peter 4 8

“I ask both of you is this really the answer?

Look around, can’t you see the disaster

We’ve been here before, look in our history books

There can never be peace if we are all crooks.”

“I know what happened is a travesty

But anger and hate only leads to more tragedy!”

“I ask you birds, can we move on from the past?”

“Today is a new day, the anger and hate doesn’t need to last!”

“I ask you birds not to forget yesteryear

I tell you birds it’s okay to shed a tear

But let’s not let history repeat itself

It’s time we put hate and anger on the shelf!”

Image result for love is the only answer

“How easy it is to forget we are all one

I’m not asking you  to forget what is done!”

“I am asking you to join hands

Reunite all the birds in this land!”

“I’m asking you to look at your communities

Ask yourself, is this who we want to be?”

“If you have even an ounce of love in your heart

Let it ignite and become a spark!”

“We do not need to fear each other !”

“You are my sisters, you are my brothers!”

“I end with these word said not long ago

That love is all we need to know

We are all created to be equal

We all can live peaceful

Look into the depths of your hearts

And let today be a new start

But you must not let the evil of anger and hate

Destroy our land. It is not, it will not be our fate!”

It was then he looked up and saw a  dove

The symbol of peace, the message of love

I Remember…

I remember…

Going to the baseball all-star game in Cleveland

Gary Carter hit two home runs

The balls landed in the section beside us in the stands

I was hoping we would’ve caught one

I remember…

Going to see the Bengals play

Pete Johnson scored twice carrying the ball

But Earl Campbell ran all day

To the Houston Oilers the Bengals did fall

I remember…

Going to see the Big Red Machine

A doubleheader, two for the price of one

The Reds had one of the greatest teams

Dad, that was a lot of fun

I say these three things

Because as I’ve gotten older I realize

Sports weren’t your dream

But you took me because sports were big in my eyes

I remember….

Trying to take me fishing

Trying to have a conversation

All I was doing was wishing

So bored I was thinking of other temptations

I remember….

Teaching me how to change oil in the car

All the words that were spoken

My mind always drifting afar

Another ten minutes, you got to be joking

I remember….

The selfless acts you taught

The lessons you tried to teach

All the balls you caught

Times  you were there and I was just out of reach

I just wanted you to know

That all those things you said

All those words spoken so long ago

That I can still hear your voice in my head

I know I didn’t say it then

I’m sorry if I made you sad

I wish I had the time to spend with you again

I just wanted to say thank you dad

I remember….

In This Life I Call A Song

Image result for life in a song

I try to figure out who I am

And where I belong

Am I the chorus or just a note

In this life I call a song

Am I the hook?

Am I the bridge?

Am I a verse?

What is my image?

life, music, quotes, songs, stories, untold

Do I have rhythm?

Do I have a melody?

Do I blend together?

Am I simply a harmony?

Am I a symphony or an orchestra?

Am I the lead guitar?

Lead vocal or drummer?

Am I background or the star?

Or am I harmful?

Am I just another pretender?

Behind These Shades

Image result for hiding from god bible verses

Behind these shades

Eyes are a little blood shot

Sitting here with just my thoughts

Lord knows I’ve seen better days

Behind these shades

I don’t see the world as it is

I think there has to be more than this

Lord knows I need to escape

Behind these shades

I can live in my own little corner

I can be a remarkable performer

Lord knows I’ve done it for decades

Behind these shades

I wonder what it’s all about

No one hears me when I shout

Lord knows I need to change my ways

Behind these shades

I can hide my pain

I know I’m the one to blame

Lord knows the demons that raid

Behinds these shades

I can hide my tears

I can hide my fears

Lord knows all these things I hate

Behind these shades

I can smile and disguise

Happy with a pocketful of lies

Lord knows I need His aid

Image result for bible verse on living in the dark

Behind these shades

The battle rages

Turning pages

Lord, He patiently waits

Behind these shades

Across this great divide

I can never hide

From God whose love never fades

Behind these shades

A light starts to shine

A light so bright it blinds

Lord knows nothing separates

I take off these shades

My mind blocks out the fiction

I can remember the crucifixion

All the lies evaporate

No One Cried

Image result for divorce

My new smash #1 hit song. Crossed over to country, rock , pop and Christian charts. #1 in 37 countries, over 3 million downloads.  That my friends is called visualization. Now let’s see what you think and make it happen.

Just add music and the right voice, maybe like Justin Furstenfeld of Blue October or Chris Brown from One Less Reason or Meat Loaf, but the last two have new cd’s out so maybe the next one and Blue October had new cd at beginning of year so…

No One Cried

No one tried

No one died

No one cried

We just walked away

Like tomorrow is just another day

No words left to say

We just walked away

No one died

No one tried

No one cried

Tore our world apart

Can’t stitch a broken heart

Cupid missed the mark

Too much hurt, too much pain

Does it matter who’s to blame

What did we gain ?

(No one cried)

Pulled out my hair

Thought I still cared

Looked for us everywhere

Thought I wanted more

Picked myself up off the floor

Walked out the door

(No One Cried)

We said forever

Made a vow together

Guess we forgot to remember

Doesn’t it make you sad

Doesn’t it make you kinda mad

How did it get this bad

(No One Cried)

No one tried

No one died

No one cried

We just walked away

Like tomorrow is just another day

No words left to say

We just walked away

No one died

No one tried

No one cried

No more slow dances

No more second chances

Maybe under different circumstances

The candle flame burned out

Nothing left to work out

Nothing left to talk about

(No One Cried)

Two became one became two

Apart we grew

Same picture different view

No one tried

To keep the love alive

No place left to hide

Tears from the past

When love was meant to last

The end slowly came fast

No one tried

No one died

No one cried

We just walked away

Like tomorrow is just another day

No words left to say

We just walked away

No one died

No one tried

No one cried

(Guitar solo  then next part is acoustic slow)

Maybe someday we will find

Why we couldn’t  hit rewind

Back to when you were mine

When you cross that memory

The one of you and me

And you smile for what used to be

When the memories fade

We remember what we once made

We will let a tear escape

As the love we had disappears

Throughout the years

We shared some tears

There’s no more left to cry

We said our final goodbye

Wish we would’ve tried

(No one cried)

No one tried

No one died

No one cried

We just walked away

Like tomorrow is just another day

No words left to say

We just walked away

No one died

No one tried

No one cried

I wish we would’ve tried

A part of me died

A part of me cried

I wish we, I wish we would’ve tried

A part of me died

I cried….
