A Story About Six Puppies Who Were Taught To Love

Our puppies are on their way to their forever homes today. I wrote this one last August when Reagan had her last litter.

I hope that in the short eight weeks we have had them that we have taught them patience and forgiveness by not getting upset with them when they potty where they are not supposed to potty. Or bite our toes and fingers.

I hope that we have shown them that even though families fight and argue with each other, that they may nip at your ears and growl at you and make you mad, they are still your family and at the end of the day, you lay down with each other and snuggle together and love each other again.

But most of all, I hope that we have shown them lots and lots of love and taught them to love. I hope that their new owners will take great care of them and will love them like we did.

We Learn to Hate We Can be Taught to Love” | On My MegaMind

Once upon a time, not too long ago, six puppies were born. They were all different colors. In no particular order, there was a blue one, a black one, a white one, a yellow one, a brown one and a red one.

These puppies played together since they were born. They ran, they barked, they fought, they wrestled, they ate together and did what all puppies do. But, most importantly of all, these puppies loved each other.

As they got older, they were allowed to go outside and play. They loved being outside and running until they could run no more. They would look at each other and laugh, tails wagging and tongues panting.

Then one day, new neighbors moved in next door. With the new neighbors came four white dogs. When they saw the six different colored puppies playing, they were not happy. The leader of the four white dogs called the white puppy over by himself.

“Hey there pup, why do you play with those different colored pups. Can’t you see you are not like them?”

The white puppy looked and around and said: “You know, I never noticed a difference. To me, we are all one and the same.” He then went on his way.

The very next day the puppies got a new neighbor on the other side of them. This new family had four black dogs. When they saw the six different colored puppies playing with each other, they were not happy. The leader of the black dogs called the black puppy over by himself.

“Hey there pup, who do you play with those different colored pups, can’t you see they are not like you? We are like you.”

The black puppy looked around and said: “You know, I never noticed a difference. But to me, we are all one and the same.” He then turned and went on his way.

This infuriated the black dogs, but what made them more mad was when they saw the four white dogs two houses over. They started barking and growling, which made the white dogs start barking and growling and soon they were running at each other. They started fighting right where the puppies were playing.

They destroyed the puppies yard. They broke their toys and knocked over their water dishes. They didn’t care about anything except destroying each other. Fur was flying, blood was flowing and yelps were going out from both sides. Even a couple of the innocent puppies were knocked down in the melee.

Finally the fighting ended and the white puppy and the black puppy stood together in tears.

“What have you dogs done? Look at you. You have hurt each other, you have hurt our friends, you have destroyed out land over what, the color of your fur? Look at the blood that flows from both of you. It is the same color. We are all the same inside. All of us puppies play together and live in peace with each other because we have been taught to love. We have been taught that hate is never the answer. We have been taught to build up, to raise up, not to destroy and tear down.”

“You are no different than all of us and you are no different from each other in who we are. The only difference is that you were taught to hate, you were taught that because of the color of your fur that you would always be at a disadvantage, or advantage. You were taught to disrespect authority. You were taught that you are the authority. But, in reality, you are nothing without each other. You are nothing without love. Try loving one another and getting to know one another and sure, you will find some things you do not like, but you will also find things you do like. The color of your fur does not define you. It does not define your past or your future. You can never fix what has happened in the past. But what is inside of you can define your present and change your future. Look deep inside you. Find a better way than this. If we can do it, you can do it. It is never too late to teach some old dogs new tricks.”

Sorry, Been Busy

Sorry, been busy with these cuties and have not been able to write or read many posts lately. It is very time consuming taking care of seven puppies. In two days, they will go to their forever homes and it will be sad day for us but after a day or two of sadness and missing them, life will get back to normal.

My lovely wife takes care of most of the feeding and cleaning, I get to spend my time playing with them. We usually try to get them out of their pen two or three times a day for the last few weeks since they are older and more active. Luckily, we have had some warmer weather the last few days and have been able to get them outside. They love being outside and having all the space to run and explore.

The Devil Told Me He Was Dead

I was feeling a little down on my luck

Met a man who said his name was Chuck

Then he said, did you know the devil was dead ?

So we sat together and broke bread

Man, he could tell a story

He told me I had nothing to worry

We had a couple shots and a few beers

He told me again, I had nothing to fear

Then he looked me in the eye and said

Hey, man, did I tell you the devil was dead ?

I was thinking maybe I was wrong

To sit there and talk, but it’s been so long

Since God’s shown up around here

So we ordered a few more beers

Then he told me a few jokes

Then lit up another smoke

He asked what I thought about love

And he asked if I believed in God

But before I could answer he said

Hey, did I tell you the devil was dead?

When Facing Satan's Temptations - 1 Peter 5:8 - Today's Bible Verse for June 21, 2018

Maybe I was wrong to sit there and listen

But I thought what was I really missing

Been so long since God showed up ‘round here

So we ordered more shots and a few more beers

Maybe it was the alcohol that started to talk

I told him it was time for me to take a walk

There was something about him I recognized

I said man, your entertaining but all you do is lie

Hell, man, we’ve all had a bad year

It seems like a long time since God’s been here

You’ve won some battles and had a good time

But I believe love wins and God is alive

Then I looked him in the eye and said

After all, didn’t you tell me you were dead ?

Someday

I Want To Tell You I Love You Quotes. QuotesGram

Someday, maybe tomorrow, I would say

As soon as a few spare minutes come my way

Someday, maybe tomorrow, but never today

I will tell her what she means to me

Someday, perhaps, in the coming week

Yes, that’s when these words I will speak

I’ll take her dancing and when we’re cheek to cheek

I’ll hold her tight and tell her what she means to me

Quotes about Love from song lyrics (16 quotes)

Someday, maybe in the next month or two

Maybe early morning while the coffee brews

They say time flies and those months flew

by without me telling her what she means to me

Maybe next year, maybe next season

There’s no rhyme or reason

Why I can’t tell her what I’m feelin’

Someday, someday soon I’ll tell her what she means to me

I now realize a little too late

As I am staring at her grave

That someday never came

I hope she knew how much she meant to me

Miggy’s First Litter

Some of you might know that we are guardians for US Labradoodles. We have been doing it for several years now. Our first dog, Reagan, is now retired. Two of her litters ago we were allowed to keep a female to start breeding when she became of age. That age is now.

Our puppy, how long can you call her a puppy- kind of like your youngest always being your baby, had her first litter five weeks and two days ago.

When they are about four weeks old, they are walking good and now the fun begins. I get to play with them.

The stress of the day just goes away when you have seven puppies climbing on you and licking your face and shaking their tails.

The Unifiers

When I was younger, I wanted to be a superhero. I wanted to fly like Superman. I wanted to have spidey sense like Spider-Man. I wanted to be able to heal like Captain America. I wanted to be like the Hulk for strength. I wanted to be like Waverider and have immortality and invisibility.

Or to be like Batman and have a cool car and weapons. Or like Ironman and have a powerful suit that could do just about anything. Or to have a magic ring like Green Lantern.

What’s my point, you ask? I don’t know except that I always felt like I was destined to be something more than I am. Maybe it’s me wishing people would notice me. Maybe I am wishing for too much.

But here I am. Much older than when I dreamed of being a superhero. In fact, much older than I remember dreaming at all. Life gets busy, time seems to become less, twenty four hours now seems like twenty. Do they have a superhero that has power to stop time? The Flash, yes, I could be fast and slow down time.

But unless I get bit by a spider or struck by lightning or some other strange mutant thing happens, I will have to still be me.

Then, the other day, the older me was thinking. I can be a superhero and I don’t need any super powers or cool suits or cars to be a superhero.

All I have to be is more human. Be more kind. Be more helpful. Be more forgiving. Be more courageous. Be more ethical and moral. Be more responsible and respectful. Be more tolerant. Give more than I take.

Let my words build people up instead of tearing them down.

I can be the Unifier.

But you also can be the Unifier.

Yes, I can do all of those things.

We all can do all of those things.

Yes, we can all work together and together we can be the Unifiers.

Let’s be one. All of us together as one to make this world a better place. Let’s stop tearing each other apart and let all of us become one, become the Unifiers.

Signs Of Life

Through all the dark days

Through all the darker nights

When I had lost my way

When I had lost my sight

When my mind was wheel

That kept getting stuck in the mud

When nothing could I feel

When I was always stuck

When the grass had turned brown

When the leaves had fallen from the tree

When snow had covered the ground

You revealed yourself to me

A cardinal, feathers so red

A tulip that bloomed too soon

The sound of baby birds waiting to be fed

A butterfly emerging from its cocoon

Five baby skunks chasing their mother

A baby deer taking its first steps

The buzzing of a bee and then another

All these things revealed and I wept

Tears of joy instead of tears of sorrow

For in the darkness there are signs of life

I found peace in today and hope for tomorrow

For the darkness always succumbs to the light

Should I Continue?

Image result for should i continue writing

Every year at this time I start thinking if I should continue writing.

First, I wonder if I am making a difference.

I don’t get many new followers. I’ve tried doing what the “experts” say to do and that is to follow more people, comment and like what they write. I tried that for almost four months, spending hours reading and commenting and I only had two new followers. So, I guess that didn’t work for me.

I had one story, Shelly Swims Sideways, that I sent to a couple publishers/agents and received positive feedback and one wanted to move forward. Then she asked how many followers I have on social media and I told her and she said I did not have enough for them to pursue publishing it. I get it, but I wonder what writers did before social media happened. Word of mouth goes a long way. But I do understand the thought process behind if you have more followers, it might sell more.

Of course, then I start thinking that I’m not that good of a writer and my stories and poems and music aren’t worth reading or getting followers.

Secondly, my renewal fees were due in January and if I’m not making a difference and not getting any followers, is it worth keeping the website going by paying the renewal fee.

Well, I got busy in January and my automatic renewal went through before I realized it so I will give it another year and see what happens.

I then looked at my stats from last year and was pleasantly surprised. Maybe some sites get this many views in a week or a month but for someone who doesn’t have a lot of followers, I think these stats aren’t too bad.

Maybe I am making a difference. If I can help one person for the better or to heal or … and at least one person in 126 countries clicked on something I wrote last year. That’s 64% of the world. That’s crazy. And I actually had more views and visitors last year than in any other year previous.

The Story of a Snowflake is always my most viewed post every year. Maybe I should try to get it published.

Anyway, here’s to another year. New posts coming soon.

Miggy said, “maybe you can write a story about me.” And I said, “maybe I will Miggy, maybe I will.”

Patching Walls and Scrubbing Floors

Patching Walls And Scrubbing Floors

Patching walls and scrubbing floors

Replacing broken dishes, replacing doors

What happened to our love?

Yelling words that keep the neighbors awake

Slamming doors hard enough to cause a quake

Why is there so much bad blood?

You’re not the same and neither am I

We stare in disbelief and wonder why

How did we get to this place?

We keep playing these head games

I know we are both to blame

Can we have a heart to heart, face to face?

I pull my hair out, frustration sets in

Halfway through I wonder why did we begin

Are you still here?

Have you checked out, want to be anywhere else

We have our children, quit thinking of your self

This was my worst fear

Can we get to where we were before?

Instead of patching walls and scrubbing floors

Do we walk away or give it one more try?

Were all these years just a mistake?

Was our love for each other fake?

Do we talk it out or say one last goodbye?

Are we just actors in a movie, playing our role

On to the next scene, same ole same ole

I don’t want to be in this movie

I’m here, let’s take that first step

Look to the future and try to forget

Take a good look at you, a good look at me

There is only one way to heal, to make us better

We need to look to the One who brought us together

‘Cause I’m done fighting these wars

I’m done patching walls and scrubbing floors

My Name Is Legend

Image result for ordinary people fighting demons

My name is Legend. I am a warrior. I fight the demons of this world. I fight your demons. Ones you never saw attacking you, ones that you fight each day. I stand with you.

I have to admit one thing that tears at the very depth of all that I am is loving my enemies. The same enemies I fight every day. I pray they will change. I pray they will find love instead of hate. The devil has them in a stranglehold.  Another dies as their blood drips from the end of my sword. As their lifeless body lays at my feet I pray for them. I do not gloat or take pride in what I have done. It pains me greatly. It scars me more on the inside than the scars visible to you.

I have a confession to make. I am tired. More than that, I am worn out. Darkness is everywhere. I am only one man. I only have so much fight in me. I have more scars than freckles. I am on my knees begging God for help. Send me help God! Help me get off my knees and pick up my sword to fight again.

God’s answer was to go to His people. Here is my plea:

As I mentioned before, I am worn out. Yet, I pick myself up, grab my sword and head into the night to fight another battle.  I fight your battles. It’s time for you to stand up. As I have prayed to God, I will ask of you the same.  I need help. I need your help!

Make no mistake the devil knows your name. He keeps track of all the demons you let in. He knows when to send more. You have to put on your armor and  you have draw you sword. Even then the devil will not stop. You have to be tenacious. You have to never give up.

The devil tells you to yell at your husband for forgetting to go to the store on his way home from work. Knock that demon on his butt and smile at your husband, be thankful he arrived home safe.

The devil tempts you with that new attractive coworker who is flirting with you. Take your sword and cut that demon in half.  Look at that picture of you spouse and children on your desk. Be thankful for your family.

The devil tells you to yell at your child for spilling her milk at the dinner table. Destroy that demon with kind words and forgiveness. It take only a few seconds to clean up the milk, harsh words will be remembered forever. Be thankful you have a child. Many want one who can’t have one. Look in her eyes and tell her it’s okay. Tell her how much you love her.

These are just a few examples where you can help me. These are what I call the front line demons.  The little ones that try to ruin your life. The little ones that open the doors to the big ones. The generals, the lieutenants, the corporals.  You can not give in to them. You can not give in to the addictions, the temptations, the struggles that will rip your life to pieces. The ones that once they sink their teeth in are hard to defeat.

Image result for ordinary people fighting demons

To paraphrase John F. Kennedy ask not what God can do for you but what can you do for God. Ask not what people can do for you, ask what can you do for people. You can help me, you can help others fight the demons. Will you be God’s light in this dark world. Will you fight with me? Will you help me destroy these demons that attack you and other people?

I will fight them with you. I will stand by your side, sword drawn, ready to attack. Are you with me?

Tonight, as you get ready to sleep, drop to your knees and thank God for getting you through another day. Thank God for helping you defeat some demons today. Look deep into your heart and tell God everything you are thankful for. Then I want you to raise your head, lift your hands to God and let God hold your hands for this next thing. I then want you to look the devil in the eye and tell him to leave your life.  He has no place in your life. I want you to say devil, do you not know who I am?  I am a child of God. My name is —— and I am a warrior.

I am worn out but I will not quit. I see a light at the end of the darkness.  I see hope. I see you. I see you picking up your sword. I see the demons on the ground, laying at your feet. I see me on your left. I see God on your right. We will win this fight!

My name is Legend. I am a warrior. I have renewed strength. I will never give up fighting the darkness of this world.
