Thomas Rhett – Be a Light Lyrics | Genius Lyrics

I believe music can inspire, give hope, make you cry, make you think, and a million other things. I want to start posting some music that I really think speak to the times we are in. As you know, I listen to everything so tune in every day, never know what you will get.

For our third song, I picked Be A Light by Thomas Rhett. I picked this song because there is so much negativity and darkness out there right now, you can be the light that shines through all that darkness. Be kind, be helpful, be positive.

Lyrics:

In a time full of war, be peace
In a time full of doubt, just believe
Yeah, there ain’t that much difference between you and me
In a time full of war, be peace

In a world full of hate, be a light
When you do somebody wrong, make it right
Don’t hide in the dark, you were born to shine
In a world full of hate, be a light
(La-la-la, la, la, la, la)

In a place that needs a change, make a difference
In a time full of noise, just listen
‘Cause life is but a breeze, better live it
In a place that needs a change, make a difference

In a world full of hate, be a light
When you do somebody wrong, make it right
Oh, don’t hide in the dark, you were born to shine
In a world full of hate, be a light
La-la-la, la, la, la, la
La-la-la, la, la, la, la
La-la-la, la, la, la, la
La-la-la, la, la, la, la

In a race that you can’t win, slow it down
Yeah, you only get one go around
‘Cause the finish line is six feet in the ground
In a race you can’t win, just slow it down

In a world full of hate, be a light (oh)
When you do somebody wrong, make it right (make it right)
Don’t hide in the dark (don’t hide in the dark), you were born to shine
In a world full of hate, be a light

Yeah, it’s hard to live in color, when you just see black and white
In a world full of hate, be a light

After Seeing Hate and Oppression, Mickey Guyton Wrote This Song | CMT

I believe music can inspire, give hope, make you cry, make you think, and a million other things. I want to start posting some music that I really think speak to the times we are in. As you know, I listen to everything so tune in every day, never know what you will get.

I chose Heaven Down Here by Mickey Guyton for our second song. We sure could use some love down here in our world that is coming apart.

I have been listening to this singer for several years. I am glad she is starting to hit the mainstream. Her two singles before this one, What Are You Going To Tell Her and Black Like Me are also really good songs.

lyrics:

Hey God, it’s me
I hate to be a bother
But I could use a minute or two
Yeah, I’m just so
Heartbroken, disappointed
In the way this world is coming unglued

And I can’t help but wonder are you

If you got a little love
Left in your back pocket
Rain it down like pennies
In this wishing well of tears
I know that you’re busy
But if you could hear me talking
We could use a little more heaven down here
We could use a little more heaven down here

We could use
We could use
We could use a little more heaven
We could use
We could use
We could use a little more heaven

Hey God, I know
I don’t hit you up that often
But the world is turning upside down
I swear it feels
Like all we’ve got is problems
And there’s so many, I’m losing count

If you got a little love
Left in your back pocket
Rain it down like pennies in this
Wishing well of tears
I know that you’re busy
But If you could hear me talking
We could use a little more heaven down here
We could use a little more heaven down here

We could use
We could use
We could use a little more heaven
We could use
We could use
We could use a little more heaven

Hey God, it’s me
We’re really going though it
And I can’t help but wonder are you

If you got a little love
Left in your back pocket
Rain it down like pennies
In this wishing well of tears
I know that you’re busy but
If you could hear me talking
We could use a little more heaven down here
We could use a little more heaven down here

We could use
We could use
We could use a little more heaven
We could use
We could use
We could use a little more heaven
We could use
We could use
We could use a little more heaven
We could use
We could use
We could use a little more heaven

Orientation Day

Part 3 DIALOGUE WITH BAPTIST PASTOR-BLOGGER ON INTERCESSION OF SAINTS By Splendor1618 - THE SPLENDOR OF THE CHURCH

The teacher couldn’t wait for each day to start. Every morning at eight, he would welcome each of the new members personally. It never got old seeing the joy, shock, awe and excitement in each of their faces.

For the last few years, attendance has been steadily dwindling. But he knew there would always be some that believed in his teachings, no matter what the enemy threw at them.

“Good morning Michael, how are you today?” The teacher asked his top assistant.

“I am good sir, but I am concerned. Today’s class is our smallest yet,” answered Michael.

“I understand your concern, Michael. It seems like more and more of them are falling for his lies. But, do not fear, Michael. Faith, hope and love will always persevere. Also, you will not have to worry much longer Michael.”

“Why is that, teacher?” Michael asked.

The teacher responded, “I’m about to do something that will open all their eyes to the truth.”

Songs For Our Times #1

I have been meaning to do this for awhile, but too many irons in the fire and I can’t seem to keep up.

I believe music can inspire, give hope, make you cry, make you think, and a million other things. I want to start posting some music that I really think speak to the times we are in. As you know, I listen to everything so tune in every day, never know what you will get.

The first song is by one of my favorites, Michael Franti & Spearhead. It is called This World Is So F***** Up (But I Ain’t Never Giving Up On It). I picked this one because of the truth in it, this world is so messed up right now, but I believe there is hope in the future, and I am not going to give up on it.

Lyrics:

Let me tell you ’bout the situation goin’ on
Up inside my head today
My mind is runnin’ round in circles
Tryna make sense of the people
Who are runnin’ everything today

All these politicians tweetin’
Got their message on repeat and
Try dividin’ us with fear and the hate

Whey-ey-ey
I wish I could find a better way to say this

This world is so fucked up
But I ain’t never givin’ up on it
Never givin’ up on it
Never givin’ up on it
This world is so fucked up
But I ain’t never givin’ up on it
Never givin’ up on it
Never givin’ up

Whey-ey-ey
I wish I could find a better way to say this

We ain’t askin’ for money
We just wanna make change
We do it for all of the people who need it
‘Cause they got a voice and a name
I can’t believe how we livin’ today
I got this anger and sadness and pain
They can build walls but we can build bridges
And we can be part of the change

Whey-ey-ey
I wish I could find a better way to say this
Whey-ey-ey
I wish I could find a better way to say this

This world is so fucked up
But I ain’t never givin’ up on it
Never givin’ up on it
Never givin’ up on it
This world is so fucked up
But I ain’t never givin’ up on it
Never givin’ up on it
Never givin’ upLet me tell you ’bout the situation goin’ on
All around the world today
There’s a billion different people
Doin’ a billion different things
To make a billion places better today

And ey, ey-ey
I know that we can make a better day

This world is so fucked up
But I ain’t never givin’ up on it
Never givin’ up on it
Never givin’ up on it
This world is so fucked up
But I ain’t never givin’ up on it
Never givin’ up on it
Never givin’ upAnd ey, ey-ey
I know that we can make a better day

When You’re Afraid To Be Left Alone

8 powerful suicide prevention quotes - How does your health and body affect your happiness - happiness.com

When you’re afraid

to be left alone

When you want to ask for help

But can’t pick up the phone

When you look in the mirror

And the person looking back isn’t you

When you’re so tired

And you don’t know what to do

When you want to scream

But nothing will come out

When you whisper I’m not okay

But all you want to do is shout

When you’re with your friends

And they seem to be enjoying life

When you wonder if they know

All you want to do is die

When you wonder

How much you have left

When you can’t stop

Thinking about death

When you want to be left alone

But know you can’t be

When the darkness

Is all you see

When mom says going to the store

Will you be okay

You answer yes

But really want to say

No, I may not be alive

When you get home

When you really want to say

I’m afraid to be left alone

When the struggle is real

And you don’t know what to do

YOU ARE LOVED, YOU ARE NOT ALONE

LET THAT BE YOUR TRUTH

I’m Cheering For You

I'm still cheering for you | Encouragement quotes, Words of encouragement, Words

Before the last six months, I could’ve told my children been there, done that for everything they go through.  I can not say that anymore. With the school closings, sports cancelled, not hanging out with large groups of friends, riots, protests, etc, I can not say I know what they are feeling deep inside. I can let them know they are loved and I am and always will be there for them which is where this poem comes from.

Lots of songs at the end, maybe you can find one or two to share with your children just to let them know you are there no matter what.

I’m Cheering For You

Standing on the sidelines, holding back the tears

Didn’t win it all, but at least you had next year

At least that’s what we all thought

But you didn’t know that was your last shot

There won’t be any more locker room celebration

I see your anger and your frustration

You were looking forward to a new season

The hits keep coming and you’re taking a beatin’

I want you to know even with no one cheering from the stands

I am here, cheering for you, and I am your biggest fan

It breaks my heart to see yours breaking

All the memories you should be making

But you sit in your room, staring out the window

Feeling like your entire life is in  limbo

Please listen to what I have to say

Do not let these times take your joy away

Do not let them leave a permanent scar

These times do not define who you are

I’m here to listen, to talk

Sit by your side or take a walk

I can give you a hug or just hold your hand

I am here, cheering for you, and I am your biggest fan

Dr. Jack Graham: Coronavirus – My battle with depression has an important lesson for this crisis | Fox News

Don’t let your story be ruined by this chapter

It won’t be long until hallways are filled with laughter

And you can hang out with all your friends

Things will be back to normal again

And all this will be a distant memory

But until then, whenever you need me

I will be here, holding out my hand

I am cheering for you and I am your biggest fan

If Money Grew On Trees

If Money Grew On Trees... - Mediregi

I was taught from an age that was early

To save for a day that would be rainy

Because money does not grow on trees

Then one night, I started to wonder, to think

After having one or two (or maybe three) drinks

But would our problems become extinct

If money grew on trees

What denomination would they be?

Would all that money really be free?

Would it solve all our problems?

Would it really be that awesome?

What happens when it becomes autumn?

I think more problems it would create

Some would spend more then they would take

From my tree, thus sealing their fate

What happens when the wind blows

My money from my yard to who knows?

Do I collect or shrug and say that’s how it goes?

Will there be a limit on how many trees?

If you have one can I have three

Or would you think I’m full of greed?

What about all the trees on government land?

Could I walk there and grab a quick grand

Or would going there be banned?

Who would be there to guard

If the wind blew that money to my yard?

To give it up would be quite hard

Would it be finders keepers

And losers weepers?

I’m sure there would be lots of cheaters

Back to my statement, if money grew on trees

I really don’t think it would make life easy

Because some would spend so freely

While others would save for the winter

When the money falls and starts to wither

Oh the thought makes me shiver

Can you imagine the thievery there would be?

All because some pockets will always be empty

Not thinking of tomorrow when buying what today is trendy

They watch their 100 inch tv and drive their Lamborghini

But, unfortunately, they will have no food to eat

In those long cold months with no money on trees

And thus the twist in the plot

For those that have and have not

Which brings me back to my original thought

That it must be like some disease

That some people will never be happy

Even if money grew on trees

I must state it as a matter of fact, quite simply

That there are too many who act irresponsibly

Who would still be broke if money grew on trees

I don’t know about you, but for me

For those reasons I truly believe

I prefer just to have leaves on the trees

That’s Not My Hometown

The Good Old Days Of The Moon Lit Drive-In..Conyers, GA - Drive-In ...

Used to go to the drive-in in my dad’s old truck

Watching from the bed I would press my luck

Hoping to steal a kiss or get to second base

Have to get you home before it got too late

I hear that drive-in’s long been closed

And I’m here stirring up old ghosts

And I wonder what else has changed

And I wonder if anything I remember remains

Then I saw on the news the people gathered in the streets

I close my eyes and bow my head in defeat

As I watch them tear that statue down

And I think that’s not my hometown

Yeah, I remember when that town was full of love

And how before we ate we’d thank God above

And now I watch them burning those buildings down

And I think that’s not my hometown

UPDATE: Police say protesters entered apartment building during ...

It’s been a minute since I went to visit

Wonder if you’re still living in it

It seems like yesterday in my memory

If I never left would there be you and me

Going to church in my Sunday best

And that time I can’t forget

When we drove out to lovers lane

Our first time in the back of my mustang

Man, those are good memories

Man, we used to run those streets

Those same streets now that I see on the news

They say there’s a side and you have to choose

And I watch them tear that statue down

And I think that’s not my hometown

Yeah, I remember when that town was full of love

And before we ate we thanked God above

And I watch them burning those buildings down

And I think that’s not my hometown

George Floyd's death: Minneapolis police chief 'absolutely sorry ...

I can’t believe my own eyes

This has to be some kind of lie

I fall to my knees and start to cry

I can’t believe my own eyes

I watch them tear that statue down

And I think that’s not my hometown

And I watch them burning those buildings down

And I think that’s not my hometown

And I think that can’t be my hometown
