Maren Morris - Dear Hate Feat Vince Gill (Lyric Video) - YouTube

I believe music can inspire, give hope, make you cry, make you think, and a million other things. I want to start posting some music that I really think speak to the times we are in. As you know, I listen to everything so tune in every day, never know what you will get.

For our 22nd song, I chose Dear Hate by Maren Morris. Maren wrote this two years ago for the victims of the Vegas shootings. It still applies today.

lyrics:

Dear Hate
I saw you on the news today
Like a shock that takes my breath away
You fall like rain, cover us in drops of pain
I’m afraid that we just might drown

Dear Hate
Well, you sure are colorblind
Your kiss is the cruelest kind
You could poison any mind
Just look at mine
Don’t know how this world keeps spinning ’round and ’round

You were there in the garden, like a snake in the grass
I see you in the morning staring through the looking glass
You whisper down through history and echo through these halls
But I hate to tell you, love’s gonna conquer all

Dear Hate
You were smiling from that Selma bridge
In Dallas, when that bullet hit and Jackie cried
You pulled those towers from the sky
But even on our darkest nights
The world keeps spinning ’round

You were there in the garden, like a snake in the grass
I see you in the morning staring through the looking glass
You whisper down through history and echo through these halls
But I hate to tell you, love’s gonna conquer all

Ooh ooh ooh
Ooh ooh ooh
Ooh ooh ooh

Dear Love
Just when I think you’ve given up
You were there in the garden when I ran from your voice
I hear you every morning through the chaos and the noise
You still whisper down through history and echo through these halls
And tell me love’s gonna conquer all
Gonna conquer all

Do What You Can (Single Edit) - YouTube

I believe music can inspire, give hope, make you cry, make you think, and a million other things. I want to start posting some music that I really think speak to the times we are in. As you know, I listen to everything so tune in every day, never know what you will get.

For our 20th song, I chose a new one by Bon Jovi called Do What You Can. All this stuff happening now, all seems overwhelming. Sometimes you want to make a change but do not know where to start. Mother Teresa once said, “Not all of us can do great things, but we do small things with great love.”

Start small and do what you can. If we all do something small today with great love, it will add up to great change.

Lyrics:

Tonight, they’re shutting down the borders
And they boarded up the schools
Small towns are rolling up their sidewalks
One last paycheck coming through
I know you’re feeling kind of nervous
We’re all a little bit confused
Nothing’s the same, this ain’t a game
We gotta make it through

As we wave outside the window
Older loved ones stay inside
Moms and babies blowing kisses
May be saving someone’s life
They had to cancel graduation
It ain’t fair to Skype the prom
Our kids sit home in isolation
TV news is always on

When you can’t do what you do
You do what you can
This ain’t my prayer, it’s just a thought
I’m wanting to send
‘Round here we bend but down break
Down here, we all understand
When you can’t do what you do
You do what you can

The chicken farm from Arkansas
Bought workers PPE
Not before 500 more
Had succumbed to this disease
Honest men and honest women
Working for an honest wage
I got a hundred point one fever
And we still got bills to pay

When you can’t do what you do
You do what you can
This ain’t my prayer, it’s just a thought
I’m wanting to send
‘Round here we bend but down break
Down here, we all understand
When you can’t do what you do
You do what you can

They built a hospital on East Meadow
In Central Park last night
Doctors, nurses, truckers
Grocery store clerks manning the front lines
I saw a Red Cross on the Hudson
They turned off the Broadway lights
Another ambulance screams by
There by the grace of God go I

Although I’ll keep my social distance
What this world needs is a hug
Until we find the vaccination
There’s no substitute for love
So love yourself and love your family
Love your neighbor and your friend
Ain’t it time we loved the stranger
They’re just a friend you ain’t met yet

When you can’t do what you do
You do what you can
This ain’t my prayer, it’s just a thought
I’m wanting to send
‘Round here we bend but down break
Down here, we all understand
When you can’t do what you do

You do what you can
When you can’t do what you do
You do what you can

Stryper - "Make Love Great Again" - Official Lyric Video - YouTube

I believe music can inspire, give hope, make you cry, make you think, and a million other things. I want to start posting some music that I really think speak to the times we are in. As you know, I listen to everything so tune in every day, never know what you will get.

For our 18th song, I chose a new song by Stryper called Make Love Great Again. It is time we choose to stop hating, make love great again.

lyrics:

I’ve been tryin’ to get it right
Tears I’m cryin’
Dark as night
These times are changing
So am I
I’m rearranging wrong from right

But hope is alive
It never died

Make love great again
Fight for it ’til the end
Don’t let the darkness in
Make love great again

There’s a culture
That’s building walls
Just like vultures
Consuming all
Oh, but there’s a fire
That’s burning bright
It won’t expire
Even in spite
Of hatred
It’s flames they are sacred

Make love great again
Fight for it ’til the end
Don’t let the darkness in, no
Make love great again

Make love great again
Fight for the it ’til the end, yeah
Don’t let the darkness in, no
Make love great again, yeah

Make love great again
Make love great again (make love great again)
Make love great again (again)
Make love great again, yeah

Chrissy Metz - Talking To God (Audio) - YouTube

I believe music can inspire, give hope, make you cry, make you think, and a million other things. I want to start posting some music that I really think speak to the times we are in. As you know, I listen to everything so tune in every day, never know what you will get.

For our 17th song, I chose Talking To God by Chrissy Metz. I chose this song for two reasons. One, I do not think we talk to God, or listen for his response, as much as we should. Two, when you are sitting around or talking to God or whatever and a name pops in your head, reach out to them. You might just save their life.

Lyrics:

I was catchin’ up with an old friend
Nothin’ too heavy, just checking in
How’s is goin’, how’s your mama and them
And for once, he talked more than me
Said, I hear a lot about you ’round here
Yeah, I know it’s been one of them years
I get it man, you do the best you can
And still wind up on your knees

I was talkin’ to God last night
About why things happen the way they do
Yeah, and He shed a little light
On why I’m goin’ through, what I’m goin’ through
Everything under the sun
Why some get it all
And some people fall out of love
I was talkin’ to God last night
Your name came up

It still stings just a little bit
So many things I’d do different
I’m still learning the difference
Between movin’ on and forgiveness

I was talkin’ to God last night
About why things happen the way they do
Yeah, and He shed a little light
On why I’m goin’ through, what I’m goin’ through
Everything under the sun
Why some get it all
And some people fall out of love
I was talkin’ to God last night
Your name came up
Your name came up

I hope you’re doin’ alright
Hope you’re doin’ just fine
Hope you think about me
Every once in a while

I was talkin’ to God last night
About why things happen the way they do
Yeah, and He shed a little light
On why I’m goin’ through, what I’m goin’ through
Everything under the sun
Why some get it all
And some people fall out of love
I was talkin’ to God last night
Your name came up

I was talkin’ to God, talkin’ to God last night
Your name came up

Michael Farren - Where Is God? (Official Audio) - YouTube

I believe music can inspire, give hope, make you cry, make you think, and a million other things. I want to start posting some music that I really think speak to the times we are in. As you know, I listen to everything so tune in every day, never know what you will get.

For our 16th song, I chose Where Is God by Michael Farren. I chose this song because there are probably a lot of people asking where God is in all this mess. He is here.

lyrics:

Where is God in tragedy?
I’ve heard it prayed, I’ve heard it screamed
With clenched up fists and gritted teeth
Tell me, where is God?

Where is God when terrors come
When all seems lost in fires and flood
And sorrows get the best of us
Tell me, where is God?

And where is God when the preachers preach
That He is all we’ll ever need?
But right now He’s nowhere to be seen
Tell me, where is God?

But could it be He’s always heard
Every single desperate word
That we have cried out in our hurt?
Tell me, could it be?

Could it be we’ve somehow missed
That He is right here in our brokenness
With beckoning heart and a healing kiss?
Tell me, could it be?

Could it be the miracle
That we’ve been pleading, begging for
Is standing right in front of us?
He still calls us flesh and bone

He’s in the whispered words of comfort
To a heart that’s crushed with grief
He’s in the feet that race to danger
When no one else will dare to be
He’s in the hands that reach to rescue
The forgotten and the least
Just show me anywhere that love’s poured out
And I’ll show you, there is God
Show me anywhere that love’s poured out
And I’ll show you, there is God

So where is God in tragedy?
Look around, it’s plain to see
He’s moving now through you and me
I tell you, there is God

Eliot Sloan, Eliot Sloan, Eliot Sloan, None - Hear 2 Heal - Blessid Union of Souls - Amazon.com Music

I believe music can inspire, give hope, make you cry, make you think, and a million other things. I want to start posting some music that I really think speak to the times we are in. As you know, I listen to everything so tune in every day, never know what you will get.

For our 15th song, I chose Healing by Blessid Union Of Souls. I think the lyrics speak for themselves on why I chose this one. We all pray for things we don’t need, but as we mature we pray for what the world needs. We need healing, we need peace.

lyrics:

I used to pray for things that I don’t need
Trouble God with all my vanities
Used to pray for things that I shouldn’t want
I meant to give thanks, but I forgot

Now I pray for healing
I pray for peace
I pray for healing
For you and me

I used to pray that all my bills got paid
And that we’d get safely to the shows we played.
I used to think I didn’t have enough…
Now I give because I know I have too much

And I pray for healing,
Oh God, send relief
I pray for healing
This time it’s not for me

I used to pray my kids would grow up happy
Now I pray that they grow up at all
But I refuse to let these fears devour me
Cause I know it won’t be long
Before we’re standing tall again

I used to pray when things were not so fine
But now I find myself praying all the time
Now all the things that I used to pray for
Suddenly don’t mean a thing no more

Cause now I pray for healing
I pray for peace
I pray for healing for you
And for you
And for you
And for you
I pray for you
So pray for me
Pray for peace

LUKAS NELSON & PROMISE OF THE REAL SHARE NEW TRACK “Turn Off The News (Build A Garden)” – Building Our Own Nashville

I believe music can inspire, give hope, make you cry, make you think, and a million other things. I want to start posting some music that I really think speak to the times we are in. As you know, I listen to everything so tune in every day, never know what you will get.

For our 14th song, I chose Lukas Nelson’s Turn Off The News (Build A Garden). I chose this one because in the last six months I have watched more news than I have in my entire life, and it is depressing and often times, confusing. One report says something and another report says the complete opposite. You know, back in the day, you had to have 2-3 verifiable trusted accounts of a story before you could publish it. Nowadays, it’s all sensationalism.

lyrics:

I believe that every heart is kind
Some are just a little under-used
Hatred is a symptom of the times
Lost in these uneducated blues

I just want to love you while I can
All these other thoughts have me confused
I don’t need to try and understand
Maybe I’ll get up, turn off the news

Turn off the news and build a garden
Just my neighborhood and me
We might feel a bit less hardened
We might feel a bit more free
Turn off the news and raise your kids
Give them something to believe in
Teach them how to be good people
Give them hope that they can see
Hope that they can see
Turn off the news and build a garden with me

Trust builds trust
All that negativity’s a bust
Trust builds trust
Don’t you wanna be happy?

Turn off the news and build a garden
Just my neighborhood and me
We might feel a bit less hardened
We might feel a bit more free
Turn off the news and raise the kids
Give them something to believe in
Teach them how to be good people
Give them hope that they can see
Hope that they can see
Turn off the news and build a garden with me
Turn off the news and build a garden with me

OneRepublic - Better Days (Realtime Lyrics) - YouTube

I believe music can inspire, give hope, make you cry, make you think, and a million other things. I want to start posting some music that I really think speak to the times we are in. As you know, I listen to everything so tune in every day, never know what you will get.

For our lucky 13 song, I picked Better Days by OneRepublic. We have to believe better days are coming. Stay strong, be positive, help each other out. The light is coming.

lyrics:

Oh, I know that there’ll be better days
Oh, that sunshine ’bout to come my way
May we never ever shed another tear for today
‘Cause oh, I know that there’ll be better days

Wakin’ up in California
But these clouds they won’t go away
Everyday is like another storm, yeah
I’m just tryin’ not to go insane
Yeah, and the city shinin’ so bright
So many dark nights, so many dark days
But any time I feel the paranoia
I close my eyes and I pray

Oh, I know that there’ll be better days
Oh, that sunshine ’bout to come my way
May we never ever shed another tear for today
‘Cause oh, I know that there’ll be better days

Been wakin’ up to a new year
Got the past million miles away
I’m waking up with a new fear (new fear)
But I know it’ll wash away
Whatever you do, don’t worry ’bout me
I’m thinkin’ ’bout you, don’t worry ’bout us
‘Cause in the morning everything can change, yeah
And time will tell you it does

Oh, I know that there’ll be better days
Oh, that sunshine ’bout to come my way
May we never ever shed another tear for today
‘Cause oh, I know that there’ll be better days

Better days
Better days
Better days
Better days

May we never ever shed another tear for today
‘Cause oh, I know that there’ll be better days
May we never ever shed another tear for today
‘Cause oh, I know that there’ll be better days
