In a world with so many good poems, stories and songs
Why would I ever think any of mine would find a home?
I’ve been rejected every time I tried
With each no, a little piece of me died
I wasn’t born to stop, wasn’t born to quit
These words in my head come out like this
I’ll put pen to paper and try another tune
Maybe this one will make it to the moon
Another no will probably come my way
All I know is tomorrow is a new day
Maybe I’ll have to write a thousand more
Before the one that gets me to that open door
I try to be witty, clever and smart
The best ones come when I write from the heart
In a world filled with a million good poems and stories
Maybe this one will be remembered when they are in their forties
In a world filled with a million good songs
Maybe this one will be the one they sing a long
If not maybe it’ll be the next one to pop out of my head
Maybe I’ll be like Bach , be more popular when I’m dead.

I know this feeling all too much. My problem though is, I never started really pitching my songs. Too scared I guess, afraid I don’t have the determination to carry on until “the one”. I remember reading in a book one time when the author said his friend is the best songwriter you will never hear because he’s afraid to take that chance.

Yes I agree, I am trying by posting some songs I wrote on here but they are only lyrics. I can’t write the music to go with the lyrics. Need a partner. Thanks for the follow and your comments. Do not fear. It gets easier once you do start sharing and as long as I write what God puts in my head, it doesn’t matter if anyone else likes it. I write for Him. I would like people to hear them though.

I don’t know if you are a member of any song writing forums but if not should check them out. Become a part of the community, offer constructive help, let them know your strengths, and they might ask you to partner up.

thanks, I will have to look into song writing forums. Didn’t think of that. I haven’t tried too hard but I need to get on the ball.

Don’t you dare ever quit trying!! I know you won’t tho…you have a gift! God knows the desires of the heart…he put them there!! Keep writing…who knows maybe you’ll sell a book!!
